Department of the Interior, Our Congress, Our Senators
Environmental impact studies have been falsified, sometimes ones that are up to 20 years old are used to justify these round-ups. (Yes, I'm talking about you, Fish & Wildlife Department) The science to back up what the Bureau of Land Management and other government agencies is not there according to the experts.
We have folks in power who profess to loving horses, call themselves cowboys even. The newly appointed head of the Department of the Interior, Ryan Zinke, even road his horse to work his first day. I suppose this was to assure the masses that he truly cares about horses? No, it was just a rue filled with smoke and magic.
From what I've read (quotes/interviews with him) and what I've watched (via YouTube government hearings), he is not a horse lover, he is not a protector of our environment. He is for the rancher. Not any ol' rancher, but what in these parts is known as 'welfare ranchers'. They are akin to the 'welfare farmers'. You know the type, don't you? The first to be in line for any government hand-out they can get. Going so far as to have the government plant their lands in native grasses and then get paid not to use those lands for a period of time. Otherwise known as CRP (Conservation Reserve Program). I believe it is shameful to have taxpayers pay folks who profess to be stewards of the land to use it wisely. There's loopholes in this of course. The same goes with ranchers who rely heavily upon the government (aka: taxpayer dollars) to build fences, kill coyotes, control 'weeds' and other unwanted vegetation (which is due to them overgrazing their lands), etc.
Those who fight against the odds
Some journalists are also doing what they can to right the wrongs. One such is Vickery Eckhoff, someone who's taken the time to sift through the government agencies propaganda to seek the truth. If you've a moment, please read the article vickeryeckhoff.com/2017/06/21/journalists-are-in-love-with-cowboys-and-so-wild-horses-will-die/.
